How to get to us

Auckland to Whangarei

Breakaway Retreat is a 2.5 hour drive from Auckland.

There is a choice of 3 routes into the Whangarei region.

• State Highway 17 through Orewa and the Hibiscus Coast.
• By pass Orewa and take the Northern Gateway Toll Road, an extension of State Highway 1, with a one-way toll of $2 for cars and $4 for truck. You can pay on-line.
• State Highway 16 through Helensville.

Whangarei to Whangarei Heads

When you get to Whangarei follow the signs towards Town Basin and then to Onerahi. Just after the Onerahi shops turn left, by Hammer Hardware, onto Whangarei Heads Road, follow this road past the Parua Bay Shopping Centre. After the Parua Bay Shopping Centre the road then takes a 90degree turn, continue to take the Whangarei Heads Road until you reach the McLeod Bay 50km large speed sign. We are the second entrance on the right after this sign. There is a silver dollar gum tree at the entrance with the no's 1856.
